Octuba-week 1 finished!

It’s been a busy week with my faculty recital and guest artist recital occuring 2 days apart but there’s no other way I’d have it.  Already working on setting up a guest recital at UT-San Antonio which at the moment will feature works for tuba, horn, and piano.  I’m also working on a new commission by up-and-coming composer Dr. Jason Thompson who was my first student at Transylvania University in Lexington, KY.  His work for tuba & piano entitled ” I Regret…” will be premiered sometime next year.  I’ll post further details as they become finalized.  In the meantime there are still three more Octubafest events at SFA – Studio Recital I on 10/25/2011, Studio Recital II on 10/26/2011, and TubaWeen on 10/30/2011.  See you there!

In other news, my second article on “The Musical Styles and Sound Concepts of Banda Sinaloense” will appear in the Winter International Tuba-Euphonium Association Journal.
